At first I thought your website was banned (don’t know why but the school tends to do that kind of stuff); turns out, you were just having “a break” (jsut to give it a name). Glad to see you’re back on track, although one of the points on your plan caught my attention the most:

you love Starbucks eh? I would’ve thought you weren’t the kind of guy who loves Starbucks (what kind of people do that? oh I haven’t deepened my theories yet, it’s not pejorative though); maybe a little more mom-and-pop coffee shop?

Some years ago I also would’ve never thought of Eliazar as a Starbucks guy. But you see, he is now a corporate-loving, free market-embracing, caramel macchiato drinking yuppie. Damn you Virginia Postrel!! Or perhaps he just really loves the coffee….....=)

I beg to differ Yo, but I’ve always been a free-marketeer. It was Postrel who finally stirred me to action, but I’ve always been lucky to have a penchant for descentralized, collective-intelligence, emergent systems—like the market (this shall be the subject of another post); and a consequent dislike for centralized, wishful-thinking, coercive ones—like communism. I found Marx and Engel’s communist manifesto intriguing, but that’s about it. Don’t you remember how I used to argue about communism with Lalo and Sergio? Defending Blockbuster and other franchises? Oponiendome a su (en mi opinion) paternalismo indigena?

I do like and admire Starbucks, but of course I don’t have anything against a mom-and-pop coffee shop. I do like caramel macchiatos (and crème frappuchinos), I embrace the free market, and though I wouldn’t really say that I love corporations, I do like them; as for yuppie… well, I guess I am, just as you are, a young, urban (or upwardly-mobile) professional (though technically I’m not a professional), but I’d much rather wear the dynamist badge or even the bobo one.

Bueno pero dejandonos de eso. Que chingaos no me pueden simplemente desear buena suerte en vez de estarse maravillando de mi buen gusto economico!? ;)

Well then, las things first:

A coupe of days without a new post seemed awfully unusual, specially with your self-proclamied “verborrea” (I just hate that word, sounds so offensive, when it just means “prolific writing of some sort”.. heh)

It’s hard not to love a caramel macchiato, at the same time, it’s hard to overlook the “elephant in the room” that corporations represent (and here comes the political statement): Most corporations (which give us those cozy little gadgets and whatnot that we all love in exchange of a moderate price (accordingly), i’ll give you that) would sell your liver if there was a market for that.

Don’t get me wrong here, there are retailers (you know who you are, big name) that are into the conscious empoverishment of their own employees, piling up their revenues in the short-term while furthering the socioeconomic cleavage that darwinist capitalism promotes… In the paraphrased words of Tyler Durden: it’s a time bomb man, and it’s all going down!

Ok, quick question here: Te gusta el libre mercado, la descentralización, el dinamismo económico que me suena más a neoliberalismo económico, y supongo que por eso apoyas al PAN, pero que dices de sus políticas en contra de la libertad de acción, centralización del pensamiento, y sus repetidas acciones contra el dinamismo de la sociedad??

OK, lo admito, a mi también me gusta el starbucks..jejeje
